SAQ recommendations....

Key points to consider:

  • use specific evidence in your answers.  Do not generalize.  Example: Use specific acts-such as Stamp Act, Tea Act- do not use "British Acts" or "many acts"....
  • stay in sequence when it is part of the question. Chronology is important in understanding contextualization and periodization.
  • follow directions and answer a), b), and c) for all questions.
    • If you are asked for ONE specific example, give ONE specific example.  Do not go off on tangents.
    • be careful with understanding "similarities" and "differences".  Stick to the basics...example- Religious diversity or mercantile connections are similarities between middle and southern colonies AND geographic and climatic differences, soil and growing seasons, access to harbors would be differences between middle and southern colonies
See me with any specific questions regarding the scoring of your SAQ.
