LEQs

Hello all.  LEQs have been graded and recorded on pupil path.  Overall, they were very good.  As a group, you clearly showed proof of your knowledge and understanding of America Antebellum.  There was a vast improvement in contextualization and the wording of defensible claims.  So "good job"!  Some overall findings for improvement include:

• stay in sequence, especially with a causation claim.  Chronology is key and many of you wrote out of sequence which upsets the fluidity of the response.
• all evidence must be directly analytically linked to your claim.  This is the most important task for a free response.
• context is necessary for some specific facts.  Example: For this response, any discussion focusing on Fugitive Slave Act must be introduced with the Compromise of 1850.
• remember to capitalize ALL proper nouns...this includes names, laws, states, etc.

Rubric is as follows:

6- 105, 5-100, 4-90, 3-80, 2-70.  If there was no defensible claim presented it is recorded temporarily as a 60.  It can be re-written for more credit.
